Learn Effective Praying

Welcome to EFFECTIVE PRAYING blog

Greetings in the Name of Jesus. Welcome to Effective Praying, the blog of Worldwide School of Christian Empowerment, where we love releasing Godly Possibilities in human lives.

I am Dr. Cornelius Idowu, the director. We are very interested in you getting to know God and your making progress in this relationship. Effective praying is a product of this. Here we can help you to move to the next level in your prayer life. It is a process. It is a journey. This blog will help you along the way. You will go from glory to glory in Jesus Name.

1Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (Isa 60:1 AMPC).

EFFECTIVE PRAYING

What is prayer?

Prayer is simply communicating with God. Effective prayer is a prayer that is successful in producing the desired outcome. An example is recorded in the Book of Genesis 20:17 when ‘Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his female slaves, and they bore children’ (AMPC).

Abraham prayed to God to open all the wombs in a king’s household ‘for the Lord had completely closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household on account of Sarah, Abraham’s wife’ (Gen. 20:18 CSB).

Also,

17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months (James 5:17 KJV).

A man arrested rain successfully in this planet for three and a half years and let it loose again. Brother James wrote to us that he was not ‘superhuman’. Think of your breakfast now. The Word of God is saying that if Elijah is living now, he could have eaten the same breakfast you had or you are having now if he was born in the same area where you were born and has the same breakfast preferences you have. No more no less. Why was he able to do what he did? This ‘strange’ and powerful miracle was not a one-off in Elijah’s life. Why did he have so much success in prayer?

Look at the deed of ‘a certain man’ called Manoah (see below). He could have been anybody. His wife happened to be barren. He applied for a Divine Visitation – a repeat journey of the ‘angel of God’ back to this earth (Judges 13:8). He wanted to have a meeting with him. And God granted Manoah this request.

8Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

9And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her (Judges 13:8-9 KJV).

Prayer is old, global and found in every human race.

Prayer is almost as old as man. Prayers and praying are ubiquitous. There is no country where prayer is not going on in one form or the other. Prayers are made 24/7.

According to Pew Research Center, wealthier nations generally have much lower levels of daily prayer rate than poorer nations (1). A notable exception is United states with daily rate of 55%. In Europe, Germany and UK have daily prayer rates of 9% and 6% respectively. Afghanistan has a rate of 96% while Nigeria’s rate is 95%.

The lowest global rate of daily prayer of 1% was found in China. Do you have information about the rates of prayer in your country? Please share with us.

Prayer is a compulsory ritual to some people and cultures. Some cultures have strict legislation regarding prayers – whether to pray or not to pray, who pray to and how to pray including dressing and ‘prayer items’. This is not new in history. See Daniel 6:1-9.

Although people pray to different beings our main focus here in this blog is solely prayers to a particular Being. We do pray and we will be praying to God, Who is El Elyon (God, Most High God), Adonai (Lord, Master), Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who heals), Jehovah Tsaba (The Lord of the Army of Heaven). We make applications for our needs and we worship ‘God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ’ (2 Corinthians 11:31 KJV).

Our eyes look unto God, Who is ‘a help always near in times of great trouble’ (Psa. 46:1 CEB), a ‘very present and well-proved help in trouble’ (Psa. 46:1 AMPC) in the present COVID-19 pandemic, global terrors and financial shakings attacking the world.

Are you tired of an abstract, irrelevant god, or a god of yesterday? Do you have a relationship with this living God, Who calls Himself ‘I AM THAT I AM’ (Exo. 3:14) and is ready to prove Himself to you now?
