Spiritual Lunch for The Week_18.02.26
Spiritual Lunch for The Week_18.02.26
Greetings in the Name of Jesus.
Can God have lunch with His children? Look at this Scripture.
1The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. (Psa. 23 NKJV).
Then look at this table.

‘You prepare a table before me’ .
What do you see?
This is not an ordinary table. Complete defeat of hunger and thirst is envisaged. Temporal satisfaction is in view. Something big is about to happen.
The table is associated with happiness and joy. Although, cultural background is extremely important let us assume that irrespective of one’s culture, the dining table represents a place to eat and a satisfying meal is about to land on this table.
There is nobody as of yet on this table. Maybe they haven’t arrived yet
GOD AND YOU
Think again of these words in Psalm 23.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over. (Psa. 23:5 AMPC).
Psalm 23 is teaching us about the expected relationship that should occur between man and God. See 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It is a most intimate one. He is not a distant ‘god’ conceptualised by the fallen mind of the fallen man.
He asked
23 Am I a God at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off?
24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? says the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? says the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:23-24 AMPC).
He is Omnipresent, that is He is everywhere. Note that satan and all other rebellious spirit are not everywhere. God is Omniscient (All-Knowing). He knew all their agenda of evil even before they fell (Isa. 14: 12-15; Ezek. 28:12-19) and He knows the date when they will be cast into the ‘lake of fire’ (Rev. 20:10).
He knows both the spiritual and physical meals that you will ever need. And He is able to supply more that you can pray or even imagine (Eph. 3:20).
The table prepared by the LORD is a place of pleasure. This is His Presence.
Ponder on these Scriptures.
8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. (Prov. 15:8 KJV).
8The Lord is disgusted by gifts from the wicked, but it makes him happy when his people pray. (Proverbs 15:8 CEV).
8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination, hateful and exceedingly offensive to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight! (Prov. 15:8 AMPC).
Your prayer is a delight to the Lord.
ACTIVITY
Now say this,
‘The prayer of ________________(your name) is a delight to God’.
‘The prayer of ________________(your name) bring much pleasure to God’.
God is waiting for your next prayer.
Read the last stanza of this song (below) written by Walford, William W., 1772-1850. Meditate on this Spirit-filled song. Sing it, if you know it.
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I'll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Therefore, pray often and you will make progress in every area of your life.
PRAYER TIME
Pray this prayer of praise in Psalm 8 unto God. It is befitting to His Royal Majesty.
1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory on [or above] the heavens.
2 Out of the mouths of babes and unweaned infants You have established strength because of Your foes, that You might silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
5 Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your name in all the earth! (Psa. 8 AMPC).
Shalom
